Dundee to feature at IHBC’s next School: Edinburgh, June 2014

The IHBC has announced that Mike Galloway OBE, FRSA, Director of City Development at Dundee, will speak to the IHBC’s 2014 School delegates about ongoing work there from design aesthetics to art-supported programmes – including the new ‘V&A at Dundee’ – that will offer a unique insight into the School’s challenging theme: ‘The art of conservation’.

IHBC Director Sean O’Reilly said: ‘I’m delighted that Mike’s remarkable work in masterplanning and project development in Dundee will be featured at the School.  Mike will be able to help us interrogate the city’s Waterfront development and its potential for regenerating Dundee’s economy using artistic resources such as the remarkable V&A outpost.  But also he’ll be able to explain better than anyone how the design aesthetics of local planning have informed the development new places there.’

‘Dundee is a vibrant place, especially just now, bringing art and conservation together in the most dynamic of ways, and I’m certain any delegates will be both surprised and impressed by this remarkable case study.’

Mike Galloway, who has led the regeneration and development of the City of Dundee for the last twelve years, said: ‘I’m delighted to be able to contribute to the day, and bring my personal and professional experience of working in Dundee to the attention of the School’s delegates.’
